Various studies also show that children who often eat at the family table are less likely to get fat and are less likely to suffer from eating disorders. Relaxed and satisfied
Apart from the fact that a pleasantly full stomach naturally creates some serenity, eating together creates an extra helping of relaxation. Researchers at the Humboldt University of Berlin found that test subjects were calmer and more relaxed after lunch with colleagues or friends and took mistakes less seriously than if they had eaten alone. That can be done: the choice of topics is in the hands of those who sit at the table. It often doesn't take much to get a relaxed conversation going - mostly just the right impulses. Instead of inquisitorial questions, real interest is required. Not only children, but also the really big ones get into a narrative flow. But what if instead of having nice conversations about the food, disappointment spreads, for example because you are envious of the siblings' “normal” pizza? Or the gluten-free pasta doesn't create the same favorite food feeling as the usual pasta?
Eat gluten-free - it's easier together
Faults can always arise, especially if the situation is still relatively new for everyone involved. “Not being able to eat the same thing as the others is of course seen as an injustice. Here it helps to emphasize how well the person manages to deal with the topic, ”says the nutrition psychologist. And Ellen Stemmer, head of the nutrition team at the DZG (German Celiac Society) advises: “At the beginning of the diet change, it can be helpful if the whole family eats gluten-free for a while at meals together.
