What exactly is the OECD doing

OECD report "Education at a Glance 2020" published

The Federal Minister for Education and Research, Anja Karliczek: "Good vocational training is the pillar of our economic success. We all benefit from people who have completed an apprenticeship. This was particularly evident during the crisis. The OECD report also provides ours Vocational training system gives a good certificate, also in terms of promotion opportunities: A total of 92 percent of our young people do their training in an area that makes professional advancement directly possible. The OECD average is only 70 percent. This shows: Vocational training is a career driver That is exactly why I have made the attractiveness of vocational training a focus of my work. And we have achieved a lot: With the modernization of the Vocational Training Act, we introduced a minimum remuneration for trainees and made our qualifications internationally comparable. We also have the advancement BAföG so much improved than ever before: the upkeep ha we practice transformed into a complete grant. All of these measures are building blocks for professional career paths. It doesn't have to matter which way I choose. Both paths - the professional or the academic - are equivalent paths with career opportunities. "

The President of the Standing Conference (KMK) and the Rhineland-Palatinate Education Minister Dr. Stefanie Hubig: "The Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs has set itself the goal of expanding vocational training as an attractive and promising educational option in the future too. Because we need well-trained specialists for the future of our country. We will therefore continue to develop the quality of vocational schools by we are working closely together, driving digitalization forward and investing in the training and further education of our teachers. Looking at the results of the report, I am of course particularly pleased that we are making progress in the STEM area. In no other country is a degree in mathematics , IT, natural sciences and technology are as popular as they are in Germany - this is a path that we absolutely have to go on.

It also shows that a good education pays off well beyond the financial return. As in most other countries, interest in politics and trust in the political system in Germany increase with the level of education. Both are comparatively strong in Germany, which makes me very happy. Our democracy needs people who are politically interested and involved in politics - for our society, for good cooperation. "
