What is casual elegant clothing

Clothing in the USA - Casual and casual

The general motto of the Dress code in the US is called casual (informal, casual). Casual clothing is therefore suitable almost everywhere, jeans and trainers are acceptable even in the best hotels, and shirts are the ideal choice in summer. Comfortable casual clothing is worn all over the United States.

You can wear what you want, as long as it is only clothing and you don't have to worry about being eyed with suspicion or blasphemous comments by others. Even the thickest person is accepted and - in a positive sense - ignored as an appearance. Elegant clothing is only required in very good restaurants (very dressy), i.e. dress, blouse or suit or similar or jacket and tie; you can't go in here dressed casually. Also in business life and at private parties in public, the dress rules are much more formal. The term "casual“(Appropriate for the occasion) is shimmering and quite varied. In general, textile expectations are higher in the east of the USA than in the west. Basically one can orientate oneself on the following interpretations:

casual in the eastKhakis, polo shirts and blazers
casual in the westJeans and t-shirt
New York casual / smart casuala colored button-down shirt instead of a polo shirt
Business casualEveryday office clothes = combination, tie not required or costume
Business attireThe shirt can be colored, but a suit and tie or costume are popular; the women's heels shouldn't be too high and the toes shouldn't be visible
InformalNot to be taken literally, especially at evening events, rather dark gray or black suit or half-length, elegant dress

Even in beach bars etc., the essential parts of the body should always be covered: shoes and shirts are always expected (otherwise: no service). Skinny dipping is illegal; it is only tolerated on certain beaches (see under the heading Nudism). Topless is taboo, usually even for little girls. By the way: Photographing not fully clothed children (e.g. your own in the bathtub) is forbidden and can be punished severely - including prison sentences - if reported (e.g. by the photo shop for film development).

These are general statements that don't always hit the right note. Ultimately, the question of clothing is largely determined by the travel destination, type and time. A combination with a tie, suit or dress is generally welcome in hotels, clubs, bars and restaurants. See also under Casual wear.

Dress sizes

Anyone who buys clothing in the USA should take the opportunity to check them out in the dressing rooms (dressing room, fitting room) to try on to be really sure that it fits. The clothing sizes are only partially comparable with the European ones and the label information can only be trusted to a limited extent. According to angry tongues, this should apply specifically to women's clothing, which the more expensive it is, the smaller the dress size, in order to flatter the buyer. Bags and parcels may not be taken into the dressing rooms. If you want to try on shoes, you have to wear socks.

Men's shirt sizes are measured according to the neck circumference and are therefore usually correctly reproduced and appropriate. If a second number is provided, it is usually the sleeve length, which is between 32 and 36 inches. Men's pants determine the size according to the waist measurement and the inseam measurement. The inseam is measured from the crotch to the hem. Men's coat sizes are determined by the circumference of the chest, measured under the arms.

Women dress sizes depend on body length and figure type. Junior sizes are for a length of 1.58 to 1.67 cm and a slim figure, Misses sizes for a length of 1.67 to 1.74 m for well-proportioned figures and the women's sizes for a length of 1 , 67 to 1.77 m and fuller and rounder figure. None of these sizes correspond to the bra sizes! Half a size is a bit smaller than the Misses sizes and a bit fuller and rounder. A small size (petite size) is slightly smaller than the Misses size for a body length of 1.46 to 1.65 m. Bra sizes consist of the band size (given as a number) and the cup size (given as a letter). The circumference size is determined by measuring the circumference of the ribs below the breasts and adding 5 and then rounding up to the nearest number. The cup size measures
the most extensive part of the breasts and subtract the circumference size. The letters result from the following measurement results: A = 1 ", B = 2", C = 3 ", D = 4", DD = 5 ", DDD = 6"

At Gloves the sizes are the same.

The Hat size for men, the diameter of the hat is measured as if it were rounded into a perfect circle. To determine your own hat size, measure the circumference from the forehead to the back of the head and divide the result by pi (3.14159). The hat size for women is the actual head circumference for the hat. Both Shoe sizes The difference from one size to the next is one third of an inch in the US and two thirds of a centimeter (about a quarter of an inch) in Europe. Therefore, American and European shoe sizes are only approximately comparable. In Europe, the shoe sizes of men and women are the same. In the US, women's shoe sizes are about 1 to 1.5 sizes larger than comparable men's shoes. Children's shoe sizes range from 0 (4 inches = 10 cm) to 13 (8 ¼ inches = 21 cm) and correspond to European sizes from 15 to 31. Boy's shoe sizes range from 1 (8 ½ inches = 21.6 cm) to 12 (12 ¼ inches = 31 cm) that of girl 1 (8 ¼ inches = 21 cm to 9 ½ (11 inches = 28 cm). The boy sizes have to be increased by 1 to get the comparable girl size. Of course there are numerous variations too these basic rules, so that shoes must definitely be tried on before buying Baby clothes is a nightmare, there are different clothing size systems. A distinction is usually made according to age and weight. In order to make the purchased item wearable for a little longer, those in the know recommend multiplying the child's age by 2.
