Is an internship worth the regret?

Change due to the corona pandemic

Dear students,

We regret to inform you that we cannot carry out the internship as planned due to the current developments in the corona pandemic.

The health of the participating students and the supervising staff comes first. Due to the difficulty of complying with the necessary hygiene and distance regulations in the rooms required for the experiments, the event was canceled.

The Institute for Electrical Energy Systems and High Voltage Technology and the Electrotechnical Institute endeavor to offer its courses in the 2020/21 winter semester in the best possible way and to enable students to progress in accordance with the requirements of the KIT "Study has priority".

In a multi-stage decision-making process, we have therefore developed the following solution, which is associated with considerable additional organizational effort for the institute:

The individual attempts of the internship cannot all take place in the winter semester, which is why the internship will continue into the coming summer semester. Since the time frame of the internship will not only extend over one semester, but over two semesters, we ask for your short-term feedback by email to the IEH secretariat ([email protected]) by November 10th, 2020 at the latest : 00 a.m. CET, whether you would like to keep your registration under the given circumstances. The content as well as the preparation and time required remain the same for you as a student. More information on the further process will follow afterwards.

Despite the difficult conditions, we wish you a good start into the winter semester!

Registration

Registration for the energy technology internship in the winter semester 2020/21 is possible for all students from October 1st, 2020 to November 9th, 2020 by sending an email to the secretariat of the Institute for Electrical Energy Systems and High Voltage Engineering. Mail to: [email protected]

The number of participants is limited, so the order in which you register may decide whether you want to participate. The secretariat will inform you of this by email after the registration period has expired.

After successfully registering, online registration is essential. If you have any questions, please contact the IEH secretariat.

Registration by e-mail to the secretariat is binding for the allocation of places
The number of participants is limited!

Registration deadline: 09.11.2020

Internship documents

All materials and current information can be found in the ILIAS course of the same name

All students who have successfully registered and re-registered are added to the course. From now on, only the ILIAS platform will be used for further communication.

aims

The practical course in electrical energy systems gives an overview of the peculiarities and phenomena of high voltage and energy technology in eight afternoons.

The documents for the preparation of the experiment enable an understanding of the theory of the underlying phenomena. The knowledge gained is then transferred to practice in clear and varied experiments.

The experiments are carried out in groups of two or three students.

Particular emphasis is placed on security: As voltages of up to 200 kV are used, various security and locking mechanisms ensure maximum security for the internship participants.

Part of the internship is a safety briefing and an oscilloscope course.
