4. Choosing the right processes

In addition, a professional process analysis should always take place before the decision to automate the process. Only processes that promise high efficiency after automation are suitable for software-based automation.

Choosing the right RPA software is also a challenge for those involved. Many companies simply rely on the wrong software. This can mainly be attributed to insufficient know-how and inadequate advice. When implementing RPA, it is advantageous to install an infrastructure team that helps to accelerate the sometimes complex and time-consuming implementation process and the provision of functions and processes.

First of all, it must be checked whether there are enough licenses for the RPA solution to work or to develop and test in several environments. Since many companies rely on virtual machines and cloud applications, the second step is to evaluate whether the RPA solution supports a virtual environment and whether the functionality of applications and RPA tools is impaired by different security guidelines.

In general, RPA implementation should be treated like any other software development. This means that environments with different environment names, server / workstation names and access control must be set up. The first thing to do is to set up a development database. Since the developer desktops connect to the application, at least one runtime resource and an interactive control (IC) should be connected to the application server.
