Pair Alexa with Sonos speakers - this is how it works

Speakers from Sonos offer everyone who is undecided a useful addition to the Amazon Echo and Google Home, because the speakers can be linked to the wizards of both systems. You can find out how to connect Alexa to your Sonos speaker here.

Your Sonos loudspeaker can be converted into a smart speaker with little effort. Before you let Alexa move into the speaker, some preparations are necessary:

Pair Alexa with Sonos - the preparations

  1. Make sure that your Sonos speaker is connected to the router and that the internet connection is stable.
  2. If you haven't already, update your Sonos speaker to the latest software version.
  3. You also need an Alexa-enabled device, such as an Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot.

  1. Connect the Sonos speaker to power.
  2. Download the Sonos app and select Set up a new Sonos system.
  3. Create a new Sonos account or log in with your access data.
  4. Now the question appears What are you setting up? Tap the appropriate option and confirm your selection.

Pair Alexa with Sonos - Further steps

Have you set up all your devices and are you ready to go? Then follow our instructions to make Alexa accessible with your Sonos speaker:

  1. Activate the Sonos skill by voice command or manually via the Alexa app. You can find information on how to proceed here: Install Alexa Skill - This is how it works.
  2. Now give a voice command "Alexa, find devices" or open the Alexa app and go to Menu> Smart Home> Devices> Search.
  3. Tap the device you want.

Both systems are now connected to each other.

Note: If you want to use a certain music service, you have to activate it for both devices, i.e. for the Amazon Echo and Your Sonos speaker. You can currently use these streaming services: Amazon Music, Spotify, TuneIn Radio, Deezer and Apple Music.
