Corporate social responsibility:
McDonald's surprises its employees at Christmas

The current corona situation and the renewed lockdown over the Christmas season also hit the workforce at McDonalds Germany particularly. The company employs people from 119 different nations, many of whom have families abroad who cannot visit for Christmas. McDonalds shows what that means in an emotional clip that comes up with a special surprise - because here the familiar Bosnian living room of an employee is brought to the McDonald’s restaurant in Munich.

Nikola, an employee from Bosnia who has been working in a restaurant in Munich for several years, will also not be able to travel to his family this year. He loves Christmas and likes to slip into the role of Santa Claus, especially to bring joy to the little guests at this time of the year - before he goes to his family in Sarajevo to celebrate the festival with his loved ones. Unfortunately, this year, like many other colleagues, that is not possible for him. On behalf of everyone who cannot celebrate Christmas with the family, McDonalds Germany tells Nikolas emotional story - and surprises him with a unique campaign: Because if Nikola cannot go home, then McDonalds brings his home to him. In a truck, the replica living room of his parents' house comes right in front of the restaurant. So that the family - albeit at a distance - can still celebrate together in familiar surroundings and with a Christmas dinner according to their parents' recipe and with great emotions.
