Who wrote the opera The Flying Dutchman

The past season brought Franz-Josef Selig, amongst other venues, to London (Magic Flute under Sir Colin Davis), Vienna (Parsifal under Ingo Metzmacher), New York (Wagner Ring cycle under James Levine), to Munich for a new production of Fidelio by Calixto Bieito and the revival of the Magic Flute and finally again to the Salzburg Festival, where he appeared as Komtur (Don Giovanni) under Yannick Nézet-Séguin and as Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro) under Robin Ticciati, to the Opéra de Paris-Bastille under Philippe Jordan and also to the Teatro Real Madrid (Arkel in Débussy 's Pelléas et Mélisande in the production of Bob Wilson under Sylvain Cambreling).

In summer 2012 Franz-Josef Selig made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival as Daland (TheFlyingDutchman), and was engaged to appear there in 2013 as (The Valkyrie).

Firther operative engagements will take him shortly to Toronto (King Marke, Tristan and Isolde) and again to New York (Fasolt, Rheingold).

Guest engagements recently took Franz-Josef Selig to London (Magic Flute under Sir Colin Davis), Vienna (Parsifal under Ingo Metzmacher), New York (Wagner Ring Cycle under James Levine), for a new Calixto Bieito production Fidelio and the resumption of the Magic Flute to Munich and Germany the Salzburg Festival, both as Komtur (Don Giovanni) under Yannick Nézet-Séguin and as Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro) under Robin Ticciati, at the Opéra de Paris-Bastille under Philippe Jordan and at the Teatro Real Madrid (Arkel in Débussys Pelléas et Melisande, directed by Bob Wilson and directed by Sylvain Cambreling).

In the summer of 2012, Franz-Josef Selig made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival as Daland (DerfliegendeHolländer), and in 2013 he was also signed as Hunding (Die Walküre).

Further opera engagements will soon take him to Toronto (König Marke, Tristan and Isolde) and again to New York (Fasolt, Rheingold).
